Daily Human – Nostalgia – 3/9/21

Today we had the rewards and recognition event. I managed to make my rambling 45 minute long speech without any embarrassing incidents.

We also celebrated everyone who had completed ten years in the organisation. Many were close to 12 actually. This celebration was delayed because of Covid.

Most of these people have been with CaratLane from the beginning. Those extremely tough early days.

Our CEO spoke about each one of them reminiscing about our early period of struggle. Fond memories.

This unleashed a major bout of nostalgia. Also happy tears. How did we manage to come so far. From those early days. I used to often lie in bed thinking – how will we ever make this work ? This is 2007–2010 by the way. Before Amazon and Flipkart. When Myntra was selling personalised mugs. And we wanted to sell diamonds online.

Every one of these people contributed to make it work. Plus lots of others who are no longer around in CaratLane.

I realised we have a special bond. Because we were in it together.

I recalled, how back then, I was shown the door by one of the big consumer banks. They told me to come back after we became something.

I was very mad.

There were lots of painful moments like this.

These ten ( or 12 ) year veterans are the only ones who can understand that pain.

P.S – We also had a lot of laughs throughout the event. 😊
