Daily Human – A Chance – 27/8/21
Today I saw the first episode of Masterchef season 10. Some of the contestants made me cry.
First this African American woman. Works a low paying job in a carpet factory. Desperately wants to change her life. Cooking is her lifelong passion. Masterchef is the opportunity she’s waited for all her life. The one chance to change her life.
The judges did a lot of drama. Heard her story. Made her sweat. Her emotion and passion was palpable. Was on the verge of tears as she waited for the decision which could literally break her heart if it didn’t go her way.
Luckily, she got in. You could feel for her. There was relief and joy. That movement gave me the goosebumps. All my hair stood on it end. And some tears.
The others moved me with their incredible passion. Some were heart broken but were still grateful for having got the chance (most people never get it) and their 15 minutes of fame. The others got one step closer to their lifelong dreams.
Once upon a time, I chased a passion myself. I think that is why I relate to these contestants and their stories move me. I hope to try again.
By the way I had some comic relief later.I watched Chutki of Chota Bheem fame beat a bunch of demonic warriors with a belan ( rolling pin).
